He went to the break room, poured himself a cup of coffee, and immediately dumped it in the sink. The bitterness, the tepid warmth, felt repulsive. He kept clenching his jaw. He saw the junior colleague, casually chatting with the boss, laughing, and he felt a searing stab of resentment.

He avoided eye contact, retreated, and made his way back to his desk. He sat, staring at the computer screen, the words swimming before his eyes. He had to do something. He had to. He couldn’t just sit here and let this happen. His hands trembled as he started typing an email, his fingers tapping the keys at a furious pace.
